Kevin's Award!!

I have great news!! Kevin told me this week that he had a meeting with about 50 other soldiers from different units. In this meeting he received an award for all of his hard work!! It was was a special coin that was given to him. Out of the 50 soldiers, only about 15 received this award!!! It was a huge honor and it means so much to him. He was awarded this by the General. He said that not many people get this award from the General, so it made it even more special. Kevin was humbled by the award, and felt that there are so many soldiers there working hard that deserved this award too. He was going to send me a picture of it, but couldn't get a clear shot. If he ends up a getting a good one, I'll post it so everyone can see it!

I was SO excited for him when he told me that. It made my day!! He is doing great there - I'm so proud of him!!

I told him that he needs to take more pictures, so hopefully there will be more to post soon!

Amazing National Anthem

I had to share this on the blog. This has to has to be the most amazing version of the National Anthem.

This was at a Texas Tech Basketball game last February 9th. The National Anthem is sung by five young ladies (ages 6-8). You have never Heard it performed better than this! An entire arena remains completely silent throughout the song.. You could hear a pin drop. Take a moment to Listen to this. The two young ladies on the right are six years old. The two in the middle Are seven and the one on the left is eight.

Update on GOO too!!

Goo didn't want to be left out!! For those of you who love Goo too, here is a post dedicated solely to him!! Goo is doing awesome here, and LOVES his friends Maya & Migo! As you can see, he'll snuggle up anywhere, he loves chewing on his bones, and playing with his toys. He is one happy pup!! ...But he does miss Kevin too. I had a shirt of Kevin's here that I had out, and when Goo smelled it he got so excited and was sniffing and kissing it all over. We can't wait for Kevin to come home!

Kevin Update #11

There hasn't been too much that has changed with Kevin lately. He just told me that they had someone come into the shop today that taught them some problem solving tactics when it comes to working on the trucks. It was alot of information to take in today, but I know Kevin will do great! He said this guy is very knowledgable and it will help them get to the root of their problems. It's a lot of work and technical "stuff" up front, but it will help him so much in the long run. Kevin said he's ready to hone in on his problem solving skills and think outside the box!

Overall he's doing really good and his days are flyingby! He did take a 1/2 day on Saturday (Valentine's Day), so we were able to have our own little webcam date. :) He woke me up, and was munchin' on some pizza while we talked. lol It was SO nice to see him again!

I've attached some pictures for everyone to see. There are a few of him workin' hard, and one of the pictures is Kevin getting one of the Valentines bags of candy we sent over from the school in Grimes. ENJOY!!

Kevin Update #10

Hi Everyone -

This is just a short note, because I just wanted to pass this on to you all.

I thought you all might like to see this. Remember those Valentine's bags of candy I was telling you about in the last email that was donated by one of the schools to send to the 1133rd? Well, this is the article from the Des Moines Register on that project. It was so much fun to help put those bags together for the troops. They should be getting them any day now!!!
